BEFORE
The flying fish are tropical fish found in warm waters. They fly a few a feet above water to escape predators. They were evolved to glide and they can travel to speeds 37 mph. They can travel 600 meters far. They have a streamline like a torpedo to shoot into the air. The average flying fish is 7-12 inches long. Their diet consists of plankton. They have four wings, long front wings and short back wings, and a forked tail. Their predators are tuna, mackerel, marlin, and sword fish. They live in open oceans and sometimes on the outskirts of coral reefs.
Due to global warming artic whales come and split the flying fish into two groups. The second group got away but the first group were being eaten. The whales can jump higher than 4 feet so the flying fish's group was slowly shrinking. After years almost all of the flying fish were gone but some evolved. There was a new type of flying fish. Bigger and could fly longer and higher.
AFTER
The whales leave because they can no longer feed on this group of fish. The new group now can fly around 6-8 feet high and travel 1 mile long. Their high speed now is 74 mph. They can do this because their lungs expanded four times the regular size. Now they can fly for two minutes at a time. Their wings have grown and now are smooth and curved. They are now around 17-19 inches long and are camouflaged. Dark tops and white bottoms. The two groups come back together once the whales leave and can no longer reproduce together. The new group is now a new species. The new group is bigger, can fly twice as fast, and are camouflaged.
