The Bald Eagle
America. Home of the free and the brave. The United States of America's symbol of freedom comes in many forms, but they're emblem is the bald eagle. The bald eagle was chosen to be the nation's symbol June 20, 1782 because of its long life, great strength and majestic looks, and also because it was then believed to exist only on this continent.
Bald Eagle Before Evolution
The bald eagle is a very fast bird and can fly all the way up to 99 miles per hour. The wingspan of a bald eagle is 6-8 feet. The bald eagle eats fish (dead or alive) and other animals that live near the water. They’re life span is about 28 years. They can also weigh 6.5 to 14 pounds. When an eagle finds its mate, it never separates from the other. They are mates for life.
