Three-Toed Sloths
By: Lily, Jared, Mya, Aryan
My group decided to choose the sloth for our Adaptation Project. We believe that the sloths will adapt bigger muscles in their legs giving them the ability to walk on their back legs and get to the ground level. And because of humanity destroying the sloths habitat, the humans leave radiation causing the sloths to shrink and giving them the ability to blend in to the environment. We will show many evolution stages in the sloth’s existence through the next 200,000 years. The sloths bone structure disables it from moving quickly to the ground, which means in could easily be captured and killed by predators. The Two-Toed Sloth's scientific name is Bradypus Pygmaeus, it is Greek for "slow feet" which is perfect for the sloth since they are the slowest animal in the world. The three-toed sloth is the most threatened species out of the all the sloths. They are surprisingly good at swimming. They can hold their breath for up to 40 minutes, which makes them semi-aquatic mammal.
They sleep for 15-20 hours of sleep every day. At night they eat leaves and fruit. They get almost all of their water from the fruit. They spend all day in trees and only go down to the ground to swim and poop. They go down and poop only once a week. They also mate and give birth in trees. The offspring clings to their mother for their first nine months of their live.
